  79. lately.  That goes for much of the other high frequency bands as well.

  102. I am one of those people who are "morsely chalenged". I have tried just about
  103. every legal method to pass the 5pw test. In order for me to learn, I need to
  104. have real QSO's with a real person. At this time I can receive, but I need
  105. several seconds to figure out what each character is. I can send about 5-10wpm,
  106. with some small spelling mistakes.
  107.  
  108. I am looking for someone to elmer or tutor me by having at least one hour
  109. a week of QSO's with me. It would start out with them sending a character
  110. and waiting for me to acknowledege it and eventually (I hope) working
  111. up to 13wpm.
  112.  
  113. I would prefer someone who would come to my house, or where I could come to 
  114. them. I live in Chestnut Hill, (Northwest Philadelphia, Pa)
  115.  
  116. You need not have a license, just be able to send and receive code at
  117. at least 5 wpm.

  119. We could also use the telephone, or if you do have a license, 2m, 430, 6m
  120. mcw or cw. I may be able to provide the equipment.

  215. I just received a copy of 'Mobile Ham,' a slick Japanese ham magazine.
  216. In addition to a whole pile of new FM-type rigs that I don't recognize,
  217. they have a two-page spread on a new 50 MHz multimode rig from KenWood.
  218. The TS-60 comes in 10, 25, and 50 watt versions and looks like the
  219. TS-50.  I can't read most of the Japenese text, but it appears that
  220. they have taken RX dynamic range seriously.

  222. So... watch for something new on 6 meters (it's about time!)

  361. for sale on consignment in a local hobby shop.  The hobby dealer

  363.   Not long ago at our local field, there was a new fellow flying
  364. the coveted black flag on his antenna (ham band xmitter).  I strolled
  365. over to have a closer look and identify myself to the new flyer.
  366. After asking a few questions and discovering that not only was the 
  367. fellow not a ham,  but also did not know he was on a ham band.  I 
  368. mentioned that he should probably should not be using that radio
  369. and may want to return it.  Well, I found out what TEMPER really
  370. can be.  I dont think Ill do that again!

  405. Your probably not going to have too much luck with VHF/UHF equipment for
  406. reliable communication.  Alaska is fairly desolute up north with villages and
  407. sites sparsely located.  I would recommend an HF rig.  If it's summer probably
  408. stick with freqs on 15 or 20 meters, if winter, stick with freqs in the low
  409. bands (And bring warm gloves, -60, -70 is not uncommon!).

  449. Heathkit SB100 with AC power supply, speaker and manual.

  451. This rig works well on 80 and 40 meters; the driver or finals oscillate
  452. on 15 meters.  It does not work on the Novice/Tech. part of 10 meters.
  453.  
  454. This rig was loaned to Doug Reneker, N9UIJ, who used it mostly on 40
  455. meters, and made plenty of contacts from Illinois with it, as far away
  456. as Havana Cuba.
  457.  
  458. This is an all-tube radio, 1965-vintage.  The manual is very detailed,
  459. and if you have the time, you could probably get it working on all
  460. bands.
  461.  
  462. I will sell it for $100.  If you are in Chicago area, you can pick it
  463. up in Naperville for $75.

  483. Well I'd be intrgued to see anything by Tokyo Hi Power. I have a 432 amp
  484. bythem, and the distributor in this country, a crowd in Fresno I think,
  485. never had any manuals and would never answer their phone. Eventually I got
  486. onto them and they told me that they didddn't carry Tokyo Hi Power anynmore
  487. and that Tokyo Hi Power were not supporting sales in the US (and never had
  488. as far as I can tell, at least from the availablity of manuals in this 
  489. vountry).

  502. Here is a report of a Council meeting held at Amateur Radio House 
  503. on  17th December,  just before the scheduled ATV  meeting.   The 
  504. Council  meeting was requested by at least four Councillors  (al-
  505. though only one such request is necessary to hold same).
  506.  
  507. Present  were:   R.Yorston  VK2CAN,  C.Miranda  VK2TCM,  R.Henley 
  508. VK2ZIG,  T.Mills VK2ZTM,  T.Ryeland VK2UX, R.Harrison VK2ZTB, and 
  509. J.Kentwell  VK2XBR;  neither J.Simon VK2XGJ nor J.Robinson  VK2XY 
  510. was  in  attendance.   The meeting was chaired by the  President, 
  511. Terry VK2UX.
  512.  
  513. A motion of "No Confidence" in the Divisional Secretary  (VK2ZTB) 
  514. was  moved and seconded,  and was hotly debated.   Many points of 
  515. order,  including  at least one Motion of Dissent,  were  raised; 
  516. they were ignored or overruled by the Chairman.   Both the  mover 
  517. and  the seconder spoke at length for the reasons for moving such 
  518. a motion of no confidence;  the Secretary and another  Councillor 
  519. spoke against the motion.

  521. At  some time,  proxies were produced (allegedly from VK2XGJ  and 
  522. VK2XY); their legitimacy was questioned as, amongst other things, 
  523. it  was  not clear whether these proxies had been lodged for  the 
  524. required four hours before the meeting,  or whether they had been 
  525. witnessed etc.   Again,  various points of order were raised  and 
  526. ignored.

  528. The meeting adjourned and reconvened somewhat later.   Discussion 
  529. continued,  and when it became clear that a vote was forthcoming, 
  530. the President raised the matter of the proxies,  and attempted to 
  531. declare them valid.   Again, there was some discussion on whether 
  532. the proxies had been delivered in time, and whether they had been 
  533. witnessed,  etc.   Again,  various  points  of order were  raised 
  534. (including at least one Motion of Dissent), and again were either 
  535. ignored or ruled to be out of order.  A motion that the motion be 
  536. put was ignored.

  538. Finally, following a motion that the proxies be declared invalid, 
  539. the  Chairman adjourned the meeting (whilst the aforesaid  Motion 
  540. was still upon the table) - ignoring the protests of other  Coun-
  541. cil members - and the President and the Secretary departed amidst 
  542. expressions of derision from the audience.

  668. The ARRL Awards Committee on 14 December concurred with the
  669. recommendations of the DXAC, and established a RTTY HONOR ROLL
  670. encompassing all digital modes.  Qualification for this new award is
  671. same as for Mixed Honor Roll, 318 current (not deleted) countries.
  672. >From Jan. 1, 1994 with addition of Eritrea the level will rise to 319
  673. countries.

  675. BURKINA FASO.  Those still needing that one remember that Peter, XT2BW
  676. will be QRV from there til the end of January, 1994.

  678. GHANA. After leaving Burkina Faso, Peter will move to 9G with his
